Prescott . . .Arizona’s Territorial Capital is where it all started in Arizona. This wonder filled mountain town with its wonderful year around weather did not just spring up haphazardly around missions, mines or railroad stops as did most Western towns. It was a planed community designated by President Lincoln in 1864 as the first territorial capital. Mostly settled by Northerners, their influence can be seen in the many stone, wooden Gothic and Victorian structures.
